WGAN-TV Short Story: NCTech Technical Sales Dr Andrew Baddeley at the 2019 Street View Summit on the iStar Pulsar Backpack and Roof Mount (Wednesday, 25 September 2019) WGAN-TV Short Story Pisoftech’s Jeffrey Martin at the 2019 Google Street View Summit on The Pilot Era 360 Camera for Google Street View (Wednesday, 25 September 2019) Three 360º Cameras Matterport Should Integrate with the Matterport Capture App Hi All, Now that Matterport integrates some 360º cameras seamlessly with the Matterport platform, Matterport is in the right place at the right time to benefit from what seems like monthly announcements of 360 cameras that: ✓ improve image quality ✓ are offered at a lower price ✓ are new entries in the 360º space While ultimately, Matterport should integrate with all 360º cameras, strategically, the next three 360º cameras that Matterport should seamlessly integrate with the Matterport Capture app are: ✓ GoPro Max ✓ NCTech iStar Pulsar ✓ Pisofttech Pilot Era While Matterport has checked-the-box for affordable (Ricoh Theta V, Ricoh Theta Z1, Insta360 One X) and high-end (Leica BLK360), Matterport needs to check-the-box for photographers that charge by the mile. What’s obvious to me having attended the last three annual Google Street View Summits (GSV17, GSV18, GSV19) - most recently in London in September 2019 – a growth area for photographers is charging by the mile (instead of by the square foot): particularly doing Google Street View map updates for: ✓ Visitor and Convention Bureaus ✓ Chambers of Commerce ✓ Business Districts ✓ Other Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) NCTech iStar Pulsar and Pisofttech Pilot Era are two capture tools specifically designed to make it easy, fast and simple to publish to Google Street View. Photographers want to buy cameras that can shoot once and seamlessly publish to many places. NCTech, Pisofttech and GoPro would sell more of their cameras with seamless integration with Matterport and Matterport would help fulfill its goal of exponential growth with cameras designed to capture spaces by the mile instead of by the square foot. An additional benefit for Matterport is the image quality from these three cameras; plus, the depth data that the iStar Pulsar captures. Adding the Pilot Era is like adding a Ricoh Theta Z1 with a higher resolution. Adding the iStar Pulsar would be like adding the BLK360 at a lower price point. Adding the GoPro is a bet on GoPro selling a ton of GoPro Max cameras and the ‘Trojan Horse’ effect when these camera buyers realize that they can easily shoot and publish to Matterport. What do you think? What 360º cameras will Matterport seamlessly integrate next with the Matterport Capture App? Best, Dan |

At the GSV Summit, the Insta360 rep said that they are planning to release a firmware update to the Insta360 Pro so we could use the Capture app through the OSC protocol. Not sure if that will ever happen, given their focus on new products vs. the legacy.

Is it not up to the vendor to integrate with Matterport? I thought they provide the sdk that the vendor then connects with. But I don't know.
