WGAN-TV Short Story: UK-based Matterport VP James Morris-Manuel at the 2019 Google Street View Summit on Capture and Publishing to Google Street View | Wednesday, 25 September 2019 Hi All, "We found, in a survey that we ran in 2018, that 84% of photographers that have a Matterport camera upload to Google Street View. We also found in that survey that 71% of photographers that use the Google Street View function with Matterport have found it the fastest way to upload to Google Street View," said UK-based Matterport VP James Morris-Manuel at the 2019 Google Street View Summit in an interview with WGAN-TV. If you are not using Matterport to publish to Google Street View, why not? [Note: All 2019 Google Street View news coverage will be tagged: GSV19 | More news coming through Friday, 4 October 2019] Best, Dan Transcript of WGAN-TV Interview (Above) Hi, I'm James Morris-Manuel, I'm the VP for Europe, Middle East, and Africa for Matterport and we're at the 2019 Google Street View Summit here in London. It's been a very exciting two days. We've been talking about lots of different contents and how things can be uploaded and provided to Google Street View. Just to talk you through where Matterport's at, this is our workhorse camera, this is the Pro2 Camera that Matterport has designed and invented. We have changed the way our business ingests content in the last couple of quarters so essentially we now can accept content from the Ricoh Theta V and the Ricoh Theta Z1 as well as the Insta360 One X. You can capture content with these devices, upload it to the Matterport platform. Our AI then makes that become 3D so you get the full Matterport 3D experience that you're used to with the Pro2 camera. From there, you can then upload to Google Street View. We found, in a survey that we ran in 2018, that 84% of photographers that have a Matterport camera upload to Google Street View. We also found in that survey that 71% of photographers that use the Google Street View function with Matterport have found it the fastest way to upload to Google Street View. It's been very useful for travel and hospitality especially, where clients have captured the lobby and then uploaded the lobby of a hotel to Google Street View. Also, with leisure and some of commercial real estate as well. Thank you very much. |
