Video: GeoCV x Google Street View - Ditching the Ricoh Theta V for Virtual Tours | Video courtesy of Rafael A. Renteria YouTube Channel

Hi All,

Note: GeoCV Kit in the video is an early prototype.

Rafael takes you through his workflow of using GeoCV to publish to Google Street View via Pano2VR.

Best,

Dan

I believe you can do the same workflow with Matterport to avoid paying them $15 for GSV. However it is worth saving these $15 only if tour is very small(5-10 panos) and you have a Pano2VR Pro license.

If it is bigger or much bigger you will spend a lot of time setting correct direction, default view and location for each panorama. It is a very time consuming task. The last time I published a commercial tour taken with Theta V to GSV it took me 8 hours just for finding a correct location for all 330 panoramas included in the tour before I submitted it to GSV through Pano2VR. That's about 2 extra minutes per each pano which is a lot.

But I did not have too much of a choice back then. It was not a Matterport tour. I could not use my Pro2 for a one km long outdoor path so my Theta V took over the task.

But even if I could use Pano2VR there I would not bother taking 330 panos from a Matterport tour, download all 330 to my computer and then sit 8 hours placing each pano, setting North and default view for each single one and all of this just to save $15.
