Cupix 3D Tour courtesy of Cupix Hi All, If you have a need for construction project progress monitoring, Cupix makes Matterport irrelevant. (See Cupix tour above) Specifically: ✓ speed of capture ✓ side-by-side comparison (compare weekly progress) In this SPAR3D interview posted in the WGAN Forum ... ✓ 'Matterport Cortex gets quick 3D from 360° photos using AI/Computer Vision' Matterport Senior Business Development Manager Tomer Poran acknowledges this challenge: "Matterport knows that there’s still one parameter that it needs to improve to capture the 3D visualization market for AEC and FM: speed." "Poran says getting the best quality results still requires using a tripod, and still requires standing out of the way when the picture is snapped. This allows Cortex to scan at about 7,000-8,000 square feet per hour." [Cortex] "Users are able to scan without a tripod if they prefer. This will increase your speed to about 10,000 – 20,000 square feet per hour–a great speed for documenting large facilities and projects–but results in a lower quality visualization and the presence of the operator in the image. Matterport recommends the following non-tripod methods, in order from least blur to most: a mounting stick, sticking it on your hardhat, or holding the device in your hand." Source: SPAR3D Plus, the Cupix SLAM app (beta) enables rapid capture of a space -- 25,000 SQ FT per hour -- using a Ricoh Theta V or Insta360 One X, for example. Definitely a great feature for several businesses, but also what I would think insurance companies would want for before and after shots. | ||
