I am over maxed on scans for this month and wanted to try out my Theta with Matterport. I had asked a question in another group as to whether or not scans with Ricoh shots will be charged the normal hosting fee as I test the product using the Beta App. Response: "Please go ahead and upload. Scans that contain at least 1 Theta/Insta360 scan do not get charged processing fees." - Dee Johnson I love Dee and her ability to help us. |

@VTLV I must confess, when I heard about the Theta/Insta360 ONE X announcement I genuinely winced at the prospect of the quality of the output/experience but...wow...it's time to dust mine down! Much respect for Dee, she's saved the day for me countless times... |

@PeterMcCready - Dust that sucker off and have some fun with it @3dVuz - Yes, the entire home. No Matterport Camera mixed in with it. Total Shoot time was 31 minutes. 56 scans total. 83 scans (had about 6 un-alignemnts, 2 mis-alignments in wrong places) 1,531 Sq ft Townhouse + backyard & garage (didn't measure). I re-shot parts of the living room and hallway after a mis alignment and wanting doors to not be blocked in a hallway. Thought I shot bathroom upstairs as fast as things were going. No time to trim during shoot, it goes so fast. Did pause for mirrors (I hate those things + spray) |

@VTLV This is great! 31 mins is awesome. I enjoy using the Theta V, however, I struggle at times with the fact I cant walk around it to remove myself from the shot. Sometimes the only place to hide is further then the connection will allow. An example would be a large restaurant with a open floor plan. Has anyone found a way around this? Extender for the range? Quote:Originally Posted by BlueImmersiveMedia I find this being a problem often with Zillow 3D shoots. I also see the distance for alignment to be closer to 5’ bs 8’ using the Theta V for Matterport shoots. I found a cell phone case on GoFundMe for about $30 I want to test out for a stronger WiFi range. I’ll let you know if I can make time to buy it and report back. In the meantime there is a Zillow 3D discussion on here I can later reference talking about ways to keep the signal alive at further distances when shooting Zillow 3D that can work with the Theta V and an iPhone. |

Quote:Originally Posted by BlueImmersiveMedia This is a great point that I've made considering reduced capture time -- while the Theta V is super fast, one still has to run and hide Pro-2 has a 20 second capture time (not including alignment) -- and you can stand behind it. Theta V has an instant capture time, but how fast are you at hiding? |

If you cannot solve the problem of hiding (if it is really impossible) you can hide below or take 2 photos at different directions and edit with Hugin and any editor, but I am not sure if we will be able to upload images from other sources than the camera using the new version of Matterport. | ||
