BLK360 Processing in ReCap vs. Matterport?7569

I'll be scanning with the BLK360 for the first time. Accuracy in measurements and the quality of the CAD files are most important. My question is: Has anyone done a comparison with the accuracy and quality of CAD files? Will I get the same results regardless of which capture and processing platform I use? |

@c2astudio, @Home3D Here is an older article reference the comparison of a Leica 3D scanner and Matterport. The results are fairly good and the comparison was with the Matterport Pro not the Matterport Pro 2. But there is also some technical issues that can reduce the error from Matterport. Hopefully this gives a little insight on its accuracy. https://www.thadwester.com/blog/how-accurate-is-a-matterport-3d-scanner |

Thanks but my question was about processing scans from the BLK camera and if there was a difference between Recap and Matterport's processing. | ||

Point cloud generated with Recap is much denser (and also much heavier ). Some with obj Recap Point Cloud Matterport Point Cloud I would recommand using Capture for aligning points of view and generate Matterport user experience and then extract raw data from the BLK using Recap. Pay attention to shoot only in HDR=3 or HDR=0 Hope it helps |

That is exactly what I needed to know. Thank you! So, even if I use Matterport's Capture app, I can still go back into the BLK afterwards to retrieve the raw data using Recap? I don't have to use Recap for capture? Thanks again. |

Yes you can do it like this. Just pay attention to shoot only in HDR=3 or HDR=0 otherwise you won't be able to extract through Recap. |
