Hi

I’m not sure if y’all missed @JuMP solution to camera image removal following my earlier post testing the face blurring technology - just in case here it is - try it and see

It is screen shot from our PanoMirror.html page. Below is the original look.

We setup one virtual mirror between the camera and the real mirror, the virtual mirror will reflect the image just behind the camera on the Panorama.

Use below link and drop your Panorama with "camera in mirror" and try to remove it.
http://www.iit3d.com/pano/PanoMirror.html
Click "q" or "a" you can change the size of the virtual mirror;
Click "w" or "s" you can change the distance between the virtual mirror and the camera.

You can download 8K x 4K Panorama from @Bernardhhi's "Face Blur in mirror test" here for testing.

The PanoMirror.html is only a POF page.
We may add some functions later:
1. Change the shape of virtual mirror to rectangle with special width and height value;
2. Feathering boundary of virtual mirror when overlay the camera in mirror;
3. Adjust the color of image on virtual mirror ...

It seems that if AI can be applied to this process the Auto Camera Remover may be possible.

@Bycha Currently it is for 360 Panos only.
JuMP team has a future plan to make one tool for users here to edit/ps the raw data before you upload them to Matterport for processing.
After that you can use the "Camera Removal" result in your tours.

editing 360 panos is a breeze. Photoshop "content aware fill" gets it almost every time. if you can do the pre-process, you've got a game changer, just like the russians 3 years ago.

@HarlanHambright That is true, the PanoMirror.html page cost only few minutes to write.
It is easy, we just rool out it for POF.

What is the detail of Russians 3 years?
We don't know. Would you please provide more information?

Some Russian thing hacked MP and eliminated reflections then got shut down by guess who. It should be in archives.

We think if Matterport can provide post-process tools that would be better.
But we don't have it right now.
Pre-process may be the only way to achieve that goal.

Matterport must do some change ASAP. His black magic is not that secret as before.

I am not sure you can open below link or not.
It is from the biggest real estate agency of Beijing, China.
They show the similar technology as Matterport with more functional GUI.

@Jump,
The sample you sent is the closest experience with Matterport. Do you have information about what are they using to create this 3D tour?

@JuMP

Thanks for sharing this tour. The reflection in the bathroom mirror of the sample Chinese tour looks like a similar camera to Matterport with additional equipment on top - Have they reverse engineered a Matterport? The dynamic floor plan overlay is very cool and the toggle for room measurement overlay that dynamically changes as you walk through the tour shows just what’s possible. Hopefully Matterport will sped up further enhancements.
