Linking to other models690

Is there support to add a link in one model to load another model? This would be great for large properties with disconnected structures such as a campus or hotel.

Hey @pheller, I don't believe there is any way to do it through Matterport's system but I have a user interface that I put together for clients in order to make the tour branded, add other information, still, etc.

http://www.5788stonebridge.visutour.com

I still have a few tweaks to make some small stuff work better on mobile and tablet platforms.

I recently pitched a wedding venue using a similar interface to link together the two models plus a video and other information. Each model with it's own link in the menu. I'm happy to help out with creating a user interface like this that you could use if you decided to go that route.

@pheller Yeah...no way to do this within the current Matterport dashboard/tools.

My WP3D Models - WordPress plugin allows you some options though, in case you're interested...with some great new features coming very soon.

Basically, you would use the plugin to add 'models' to your site. You could choose to organize a number of related, yet physically disconnected, models into group of model "types" or "clients" (optionally shown on a map).

Here's an example:

http://wp3dmodels.com/demos/client-specific-models/

(Imagine this page being specific to a "campus", etc.)

Additionally, each model gets its own URL so you could just add a model to your site and then supplement it with a second (or third) or fourth.

Here's an example/demo of two models:

Please let me know if you'd like any more information.

Thanks,

Ross Peterson

Ross, That's a cool plugin. I was trying to put a case together for doing some models for free in exchange for branding, but didn't know exactly how to accomplish it given that there is no way to put our logo anywhere on the Matterport model. But your plugin would allow me to host the model on my website which could drive the traffic there instead. Good stuff!

Thanks @pheller!

I'm currently working on a big update to WP3D Models as well, and will be announcing a number of new features very soon, some related to additional branding options.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Can the plugin use our existing style sheet or do we have to edit the one that comes with WP3D?

Hey...yes, out of the box the plugin is built to mesh well with your existing (WordPress) site & installed theme. There are a few simple color tweaks you can make (for buttons) as part of the settings and then there's an option to fully customize (your own template) how your model pages are displayed/etc.

I have to step out now, but I'll circle back and post some example links of how others have customized.

@pheller - Here's a couple examples of ways that others have customized their installs of WP3D Models:

It'd also be good for builders, I've tried embedding multiple on the same page but it slows it down to much. I'll have to look into the solution above, I've just been busy lately.
