| Has anyone attempted a Matterport 3D Virtual Tour of a Large Ship? The ship is ex-navy and is being de-commissioned, it will then be scuttled for a dive wreck They are wanting a 3D tour with dollshouse of the ship but due to its size I believe it is beyond the Matterports capability? The ship has 8 levels and measures approx 127m (417ft) long x 18m (59ft) wide. I realise I could use Mattertags & scan each floor individually but this would only allow a dollshouse for each individual floor and not a dollshouse of the whole vessel?? Does anyone have any suggestions? |

| You will not get what you are looking for. I am working on doing cruise ships and I have already done a sample on a ship and it will not happen do to the amount scans needed. So you are right in your thinking. Good Luck... Ship sample... |

| @DennisQ Welcome to the WGAN Forum ... Here are WGAN discussions tagged: large You might try under promise and over deliver. 1. Promise a separate floor for each level of the ship 2. Attempt to do the whole ship within one model 3. While there is no limit to the number of scans that you can do (in theory), the limiting factors are: a. may not process b. may crash in webGL (though would be great in VR c. may crash iPad 4. If you do attempt to do the entire ship in one model and you run into trouble, duplicate the model on your iPad. For example, let's say you get 2.5 floors done and then your iPad keeps crashing. Duplicate your model three times. In 1, keep all the scans for floor 1, in 2, keep all the scans for floor 2; in 3 keep scans in floor 3 and finish scanning that floor. Okay? Best, Dan |
