Hi All, In light of the Matterport Ecosystem announcement yesterday (Wednesday, 21 February 2018), I wonder if the GPS in the Matterport Pro2 and Pro2 Lite Cameras is a Trojan Horse? Imagine that you do not want "your" Matterport Space ending up being used in the Matterport Ecosystem, so you don't enter an address for the property (and don't verify the address). I could imagine that the GPS in the Matterport Pro2 and Pro2 Lite Cameras could figure out - particularly in standalone houses on their own lot - where the house is. Is this technically possible? And, do you think that Matterport intends to use the GPS to add the house to its Matterport Ecosystem - even if we did not / do not want this to happen? Best, Dan |

Hi All, Perhaps Matterport CEO Bill Brown answered this question when he announced the Matterport Ecosystem: --- "Free long-term hosting for ecosystem Spaces: We will also be changing our hosting pricing for Matterport Spaces for single family residential real estate properties. When the change takes effect, Spaces that are public, part of the ecosystem license, and have a validated residential address entered will be free for you to continue hosting on Matterport after the first 12 months for as long as you have your account. They will not count toward the hosting limit of your Cloud Subscription. This enables you to continue to host residential property Spaces for your customers after 12 months for free." --- The keywords here are "single family residential real estate properties" ... Seems like that aligns with GPS in the Camera. --- Your thoughts? Dan |
