| Thanks for a great post Dan, and for mentioning Blue-Sketch. You highlighted square footage. Matterport recently introduced square footage to their floor plans but they only provide the Gross Internal Area which is floor space only, paint to paint. https://support.matterport.com/hc/en-us/articles/217835698-Download-Sample-Floor-Plan-Square-Footage You can use this for invoicing clients. However people need to be careful with this number as it is not the number realtors should be giving out to potential home buyers, at least not in North America or Europe. ANSI and many other standards require exterior walls to be included and have a long list of other requirements regarding stairs, heated vs cold spaces, ceiling height etc. If you want to be sure you are on the safe side work with a floor plan provider who can tailor everything according to your needs. We (Blue-Sketch) serve clients especially in Canada with tedious requirements in both imperial and metric measures and can tailor the square footage information per province or MLS requirements. Thanks for posting the comparison you created last year. | This is the first time I've looked at what BlueSketch has to offer, and aside from perhaps more accurate measurements and some color options, sell me on why I would pay $99 for a BlueSketch 2D floorplan instead of $15 for the Matterport version. | ||

First, if you are a We Get Around Network (WGAN) Basic, Standard, or Premium member of this forum you get a 60% discount and pay $39.98 per floor plan. Also, if you sign up to the Blue-Sketch Reseller program and order minimum of 12 orders on any Blue-Sketch products per rolling consecutive three months you also get a 60% discount. Matterport's $15 price is distorting what people consider the value of a floor plan. Matterport is heavily subsidizing that price as for them it is a way to get their brand everywhere. If you are drawing your own floor plans you will know it's worth way more than $15. We did a price comparison of floor plan prices in North America, it came to around USD 270 https://blue-sketch.com/value-floor-plan/ Second, Blue-Sketch and Matterport floor plans are apples and oranges. A Matterport floor plan is one size fits all, and is great for most use cases. But if you want to offer a higher precision option with more data points, or a luxury file with selected colors, fonts and branding, Blue-Sketch is your option. |
