Our latest project is about visualization of event spaces in mixed reality. After having 3D scanned a variety of Microsoft conference locations, we developed an interactive Hololens app to explore them in holographic format. Special thanks to Michael Gelon, Allison Borngesser, Kathleen Kamali, Suzanna Kovoor, Thomas Le, Dionne Corey and Maria Prendergast. |

Hi Paolo This is a very nice result. Did you develop the interactive interface between the Matterport model and the hololens application? Could you explain a little more about the whole process? Thanks |

@jfantin, the process we went through for this app looks like this: - 3D scan the spaces - Extract OBJ and floor plans - Import OBJ in Blender - Slice the big model in smaller chunks, as Hololens can't handle the entire model - Clean up each chunk - Decimate polygons / remove duplicate vertices as needed - Load chunks into Unity - Reduce the number of materials using Mesh Baker asset (important for performance) - Created interactivity (both gestures and voice commands) There is quite a bit of work in this app. I'm glad our VR designer took care of it :-) |
