During the Pro2 webinar, they said there was a backup solution coming. Anyone know if that is a restore from their cloud or are they waiting for the iOS11 files feature so that we can back up locally? Now that I pulled the trigger on the Pro2 I am more cognizant of how much storage it will use on my iPad. |

Smart money would be on Files in iOS 11, as I posted about a few weeks ago.

@jfantin I have heard through the forums and the webinar that it could 5x the space requirement - which jives with the bump to 4k resolution

Thank you @Wanderfish360. It seems that Matterport will have to find a Backup solution very fsst (using an iPad as a storage device is quite expensive and a nonsense from any point of view)

Some insight into High Sierra and how iCloud and iOS Files could make backup and sharing of Matterport scans very simple. Better iCloud file sharing: Files saved to iCloud Drive can be shared with other people for collaborative work. Everyone sees the same document and will always get the latest version with any edits and changes. “Compatible” third-party apps can also work on iCloud Drive files and the document is still kept up to date. And now, you can share directly with people from the share sheet. |
