Hi All, Matterport's announcement today (31 May 2017) that the Matterport Pro2 3D Camera includes GPS is super-exciting, if you are planning to use this new Camera for publishing to Google Street View. Imagine shooting scans outdoors. Now image that the camera actually knows where the scans are located. This means publishing Matterport Spaces 3D Tours to Google Street View WILL place the outdoor scans in the correct spot. That's exciting. Still some of the old Matterport Pro1 Cameras - Matterport Pro 3D Camera – include a physical button on the back of the Camera that presently has no functionality, I could imagine that some of the old Cameras have Bluetooth capability. This likely means with a firmware upgrade to some of the older Pro1 Cameras that Bluetooth could be enabled and an external GPS used with the Camera, to geo-locate scans. While I am a geek, I am not a tech, so I'll differ to Members of the We Get Around Network Forum Community to discuss GPS and Bluetooth from a technical standpoint. Meaning, am I right? Best, Dan |

Hi All, Imagine that you shoot Matterport: scans indoors and 360º photo spheres outdoors. Today, it is ckludgy to "walk" indoors/outdoors as easily as you do "walking" within scans only. While the 360º photos are discoverable in highlights reel, it's awkward. Now image that since GPS enables Matterport to know exactly where the 360ºs are located, I imagine that in a TBD back-end release, Matterport will enable us to "walk" indoors/outdoors in an Apple-like experience. What do you think? A rock-solid prediction or am I dreaming the impossible? Dan |
