Trim

Trimming Your Models? Artifacts in Dollhouse38

CharlieB private msg quote post Address this user
So I did this scan yesterday and it looked pretty clean on the iPad app so I only trimmed a few areas.

Then I uploaded it....and dang look at all of the artifacts.

Can you share with me what you feel the best practices are?

Should I trim all sides even if it looks like it's not needed?

Thoughts?

I am a bit over the top on my edit and don't usually have any trouble. Only the one time I tried to do similar to yours did I miss some floating in space that I couldn't see on the map...

Tim, so this means that you trim most every wall? Just want to make sure that I understand what you mean.

Okay...I spoke too soon....I see what you mean now. Hey thanks for sharing that. I see what I need to do now.

I feel that I am guessing when I do trim, about how close that I can get with out it affecting the scan. Is there a trick to it?

Tim,

Have you experienced having to re up load a model? I understand that they have something in place to detect that you were trying to replace a model.

I re uploaded a model the other day and it didn't replace the existing model, it added a new one in addition.

So guess I need to speak to support to confirm what is happening on their end and if this triggered a new fee or not.

@ticketyview

Tim, Hey not sure if this is a private message or not.

Wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing your thoughts on pricing for your Matterport models? If so and wish to email me directly please do at 3dvisualtours@gmail.com

Thanks.

Charlie

Yes, you need to trim the parameter of the entire model. The stuff your picking up is data outside the window.

ccctucker,

Thanks....I understand the error of my ways now....) I just thought that you only needed to trim it if you saw artifacts in the floor plan view. Now I know better....appreciate it.
