I have a fickle client who wants me to rescan a very large portion of a very large project (160 scans). How many scans can I delete and rescan without being charged again when I upload?

Thanks -

Keith

Hi Keith

You can rescan a model and uploads as many times as you like and MP won't charge you again as long as it's the same model.

Hello Gary,

Are you sure about it ?

Can I upload a 1 scan model and then add 200 scan? I would be charged only 20$ instead of 40$ ?

Thanks

No, if you go over the 100 scan mark they will charge you an additional $19, that a automated part of the system.

Hi Keith,

Can I ask WHY this clients wants you to rescan (basically) the whole thing? Does he know everything has to be in the exact same place as when you did the first scan (at least where you want to re-start the new scans)? Does he know the lighting will probably change? Does he know the quality will probably not improve (I haven't seen the scan nor what the eventual "problem" is...)?

I've had a few clients wanting to redo some parts, but after explaining that 1/ it was their fault if this or that was not placed ideally in a room 2/ therefore we will have to charge a traveling fee (most of the time, it's included) + the time spent on location, and 3/ that it won't make any difference in the end because the Matterport tour still gives a perfect idea of the space, even if there is 1 or 2 things that could have been placed better... usually these clients ended up keeping the model as is.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Matt

Hi Keith,

you can propose to client to block scan circles where he doesn't want his clients to enter (if it's some separate space with bad quality tour)...

Thanks for all of your great suggestions. However, 1) I have to remove something that is in about 70% of the shots, and 2) I'm actually paying for the upload. I want to remove all but one scan and start from that point. Today's lighting will be very close. Nothing has moved. Technically, things should work. I was asking purely from a "Matterport rules" point of view, and because I'm basically a cheapskate!

I will post the model and explain later once I'm finished.

Keith
