Two AI Voices Riff on How the CoStar Acquisition of Matterport May Affect Matterport Service Providers

Hi All,

I asked two AI voices (above) to riff on the CoStar Group Acquisition of Matterport news today (Friday, 28 February 2025.

Here's the prompt.

Your thoughts?

You forgot to address how this will affect all the people that get jobs directly from MP.

@pixelray

Point taken.

From listening to CoStar earnings calls, my impression is that Matterport will be run as a separate company. If that's the case, I could imagine that the jobs you get from Matterport will continue.

I could also imagine that CoStar will grow the market for Matterport tours (resulting in more business for you).

That's what I am certainly hoping for... I'm just praying they don't decrease payouts even further.

Dan as you know we have been doing this for years. It added so much corporate business and chain accounts that it is left up to each MSP to make something of a GREAT opportunity.

I think that the growth could be exponential, with the different ways to get the data and related information regarding that data out quickly.

@rko1 @pixelray @DanSmigrod ya and some of us have set on the service providers list for years and crickets, crickets and still crickets. I never understood why. I been on the list from the beginning and was from Matterport the first in our area and nothing kinda got tired of asking. Never could understand the way they distribute the jobs out.

I have to add something. We have been doing Matterport for years. We not only work with Matterport, but we have developed relationships with other MSP around the US and speak with them regularly. I have recommended some to out vendors and they have become somewhat busy. I really, really feel it is about relationships. My wife, Kay and I got involved with Dan and WGAN early on, and we don't speak as much as we used to but, he was an integral part of it, and our name continues to be mentioned and seen in many places fairly often. We are in Alabama but I speak to people who are now friends on the West coast and all around the US. It never hurts to ask questions and contact people to help grow your knowledge, presence and business. The continuing to build small things can and does lead to big things. CoStar allows for more opportunities. We are looking at everything in different ways and will find ways to generate income.

For MSPs that service residential RE, the key to growth is everyday people (homeowners) becoming aware that Matterport and virtual tours in general are what buyers want when shopping for homes.

No one would consider selling a house without photos. When the same expectation includes virtual tours, which buyers do want, then sellers will tell agents, “no tour? Then you don’t get to list my home.”

As CoStar markets Matterport in order to push Homes.com, this awareness among general population will grow.

All this said, the C-Suite of all these companies will continue to look at MSPs as Uber drivers. If you want to succeed in virtual tours, devote yourself to mastering deeply creative, custom-crafted systems like 3DVista and others at the high end of virtual touring. These cannot be automated.
