With regard to refurbished units that Matterport makes available for warranty exchanges / replacements:

While I can understand skepticism about refurbished products due to what is provided by some electronics manufacturers, I can assure you that Matterport has very high standards for their remanufactured/replacement cameras. At @matterfix, we do a lot of refurbishing of units for Matterport and the guidelines for performing that work are very strict.

All cameras are thoroughly tested and inspected and any parts that are not 100% like new are replaced...even the slightest scratch or mark on a housing piece requires that it be replaced.

And for any mechanical or electrical part, the slightest indication of a problem requires that it be replaced. In our experience, any camera that we remanufacture at @matterfix should look and perform exactly as a "new out-of-the-box" camera.

That being said, the Pro3 is a new 1st gen piece of hardware and, as such, there will occasionally be units that fail (both new and remanufactured units).

If you have an issue with your Pro3 camera that requires repair, either under warranty or out of warranty, at @matterfix we can usually repair your camera and have it ready to ship back to you the 1st or 2nd day after we receive it.

@MatterFix I appreciate your input but even being first generation cameras there are lots of engineering failures and average life expectation of a camera of this caliber is a little to high.

@ron0987 - I’m not sure what data you’re basing your opinions on but we have 30 + Pro3 cameras in our rental fleet that get shipped all over the US and Canada on a regular basis and we have only had two instances of a camera failure that was not due to a camera being dropped. And this is over hundreds of rental transactions to experienced and brand new operators. And with an extensive amount of handling by UPS, which isn’t always that gentle!

Mike, I base it on my two cameras, you assessed my second camera after minimal use and the drive motor was already going out, the mount on how many Pro3 have had issues and posted here in the forum and having to use a hex key to tighten the screw on the mount but not too tight but just right. Everybody scrambling to buy extra mounts on Ebay and you may still have an issue. You're telling me you are not repairing any more drive motors or mount issues after the camera has been out this long? That is what I base it on, and ya are there plenty out that don't have issues but how many do we not hear about?

@ron0987 i've now used several pro3 cameras in my fleet (and I also rent out cameras to others), i've only had one issue which matterport addressed immediately by sending me a replacement unit. With the pro3 i've probably done over 4,000 scans easily and well over 7,000,000 sq ft

@ScanYourSpace Nope totally understand I just must be the unluckiest person in the world two camera's go bad in about 19 months with the exact same issue? Definitely not walking under any ladders or playing the lotto or going to Las Vegas.

@ScanYourSpace ya my commercial work had stopped and not enough Real Estate to keep a Pro3 plan up and running and so those were some of the reasons and after Mike was assessing my camera for purchase and said the drive was going out all for the better. I will pull the Pro2 out if needed or I am introducing Realsee to agents.
