Ok after posting the story about the customer service with Realsee and the shout out on the We Get Around Network, Célia Chen reached out and said she had loaded 100 credits into my account. So again, I point out when has Matterport done anything like that for anyone.

So, while I am on a roll I will also point out that a few weeks ago and again after my own stupidity and leaving the camera on a shelve for about a year barely used, I saw the battery was not taking a full charge. Because I do not want to get to a job and have a battery issue I go to Realsee's webpage looking for replacement batteries. I cannot locate them. I contact customer support, and I don't say hey your camera is crap it won't hold a charge, it only a year old I demand a replacement I simply say can you please direct to the store so I can purchase a second battery mine seem to not be holding a full charge. Low and behold a get I surprising email from none other than Célia Chen that states how about we just send you a new battery please send your shipping address at no charge.

Now you all think I am bashing Matterport but like I said if I can open the eyes of just one small business owner to Realsee then that is great. If you think I am bashing Matterport then this is the time loud and proud list the things that Matterport has done for you and I am not talking about the things they were required to like replace a camera under warranty.


I said I was going to end with a story on the Matterport Pro3, well if everything is fine on the horizon and this is only my two cents why would B&H be dumping their cameras.
I was going thru my emails and found an email from B&H that was a one-day sale that listed a Matterport Pro3 Accelerator Kit for not $7995 but $4995, that right if you use the credit plan no tax, free shipping $4995. That undercut even Matterport black Friday sale. Why would they be unloading their stock pile of camera and you cannot tell me they did not take a loss on these sales.

Your avatar have USA flag, so I'm assuming you are from USA. What will you do when Realsee will be banned as Chinese company? DJI is already banned from Government sector in my country. That is some point to consider when you pay thousands for the product.

I see how the US and other countries can block imports of certain products from companies such as DJI and RealSee however I'm curious how you can prevent the use of software?

@monnce Ok lets talk apples to apple I am not a government agency and not buying product so I might be subject to a Tariff. One credit is less than $3 for me but to keep it simple we will say $3 dollars and that what it cost to process a modal in Realsee. Less say worst case scenario 100% tariff I pay $6 a credit I am still good with that.

Ok You have a Pro3 that has two known issues drive motor goes out and the tripod mount breaks. Drive motor a costly repair and this I do not know but where can you send is there a European location or does it go to Mike and or Matterport. You also have an issue with mount that may or may not be covered under warranty. How much time will you be down without the camera.

You say the drive motor is covered under warranty so was mine, they replace it. When I sent my new camera to Mike for him to buy, he said the drive motor was going out. This camera was 5 months old had only been light used on about 15 homes no more than 50-70 scans on each house and no commercial work and never dropped and Mike said Matterport said Matterport said it was not covered under warranty.

You tell me who is gambling more?

@cmilson1 There were cases where Matterport banned accounts if you scanned in restricted countries. I presume you could use hardware but you could not upload what you scanned.

@ron0987 When I sad product I meant camera. I'm not sure what you want to achieve, I'm just saying that Chinese manufacturer can be banned in EU and USA and you should consider that when you make such investment.

@monnce I have no agenda or trying to achieve anything other than Dan has provided us a wonderful forum to educate others. Like I said in earlier post if I can save one small business owner some of the same headaches I went through great. On the other hand enter into conversations with business owners like you show new business owners the good and the bad of all system thru our experience on the forum. I do not know if you remember last year I posted a comparison of Matterport Pro3, Matterport using Theta Z1, Realsee Galios, Realsee using Theta Z1, Faro using S120 scanner and Pivo. For me this forum is all about education helping other member and sometimes its good, sometimes it bad and sometimes I do so my frustration. But when we don't contribute to keep thing going and all that knowledge is wasted. You have your reasons for using Matterport those are yours but share them might help some make there decide, and it might be a point of few nobody else has who knows. But not trying to achieve anything, maybe a laugh or smile every once in awhile.

I still remember problems for European customers to use Matterport. I do not remember exact laws but even hosting your 3d tour on AWS in USA was against those regulations and only hosting it in Europe was acceptable by it. That why Matterport announced later that data from EU will be hosted only on AWS servers located in Europe. And this was only between USA and EU and it was still causing problems of not complying with EU regulations. Changing it between EU and China and it should create much bigger problem that will grow eventually.
