This is the best time to grow your business if you put in the effort. When the market is hot anyone can sell a home. Realtors who just use their phone for pictures, don't stage, don't put in any work because buyers are snatching up anything. Now that the market is down it'll weed out all the part-time realtors who don't put in the effort. Same goes for the marketing side. If you can differentiate yourself from the crowd and show your worth as a marketing partner you should still be able to grow your business. This month is my slowest so far this year, but I've doubled my business from last year. What's funny is a builder forced a Realtor to use me earlier this year because he liked my photos. Eventually lost that builder because he brought on an investor. But that Realtor swapped to me as her full time photographer and I picked up 2 more agents in her office. All feedback has been it's because of my attention to detail. Point is if you put in the work, even in a slow market it's a great time to build your business. |

I agree with Buster. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Many of my RE agent clients now want only photos. A few have either switched to a cheaper photographer or take their own photos, but it shows. I'm pursuing more commercial virtual tour work, slowly seeing more businesses realize how they can bridge that (considerable) gap between a website and getting people to travel to their showroom. I'm currently bidding on two virtual showroom projects, and pitching far beyond the limits of Matterport. If you're slow, learn new applications, do test shoots with new equipment and styles, develop new services you can add to your palette. I'm now including a "CubiCasa Tour" with all orders for "just photos" and my clients love it. It's a new beta service where your still photos are positionally connected to a floor plan so people can see where each photo was taken from. Cost? Just $15. Extra 5-10 minutes on site to shoot/scan and 15 minutes to assemble tour. Bottom line, if you're slow, use the time to advance your game. Some RE agents are dropping out of the business. I'm sure some photographers as well. Be a survivor and be the best. |
