WGAN Question of the Day

Question of the Day: Is there a need for a 3rd party tool to remove Matterport camera from the Mirror?

Hi All,

The WGAN Forum Question of the Day for Friday, 12 July 2024:

Question of the Day: Is there a need for an automated workflow tool -- by a 3rd party -- to remove the Matterport camera from the mirror and re-insert the pano into the Matterport model?

Best,

Dan

P.S. This question inspired by this WGAN Forum post by @Meidansha:

I would most definitely say yes if it could be done in a cost effective manner!

@daslack

Pay per image?
Pay per tour?
Subscription for unlimited?

Best,

Dan

@DanSmigrod

I would think the best situation for me would be pay per tour.

Even though many are doing it, I really dislike the subscription model for any software.

@daslack

Okay. Great.

How much per Matterport tour to enable you to automate camera removal from a mirror?

Best,

Dan

@DanSmigrod I am not really sure what the level of difficulty would be to remove the mirrors. To me, I would think they might even have to be removed on a per mirror basis.
I am not sure what you would do in the case of a wall of mirrors. I scanned a gym last year that had mirrors down two walls.
In a residential property, maybe $15-$20 per mirror?

@daslack

Thanks for the additional insight.

Rather than think about how difficult the workflow would be for a 3rd party to offer this service, what would you be willing to pay per Matterport tour?

Or, perhaps per square feet tiers such as, for residential:

1. up to 2,500 SQ FT
2. up to 3,500 SQ FT
3. up to 5,000 SQ FT
4. up to 10,000 SQ FT

I would like to think a 3rd party platform is readying this post and trying to decide is there a market for building out this tool (for example, using AI to locate and remove the various Matterport cameras and tripods).

Best,

Dan

@DanSmigrod I think Matterport is a thing of the past, there are other solutions on the market that solve all these problems without using third parties.
