Compare Matterport Camera Versions197

WeinigerHomes private msg quote post Address this user
I anticipate buying a used Matterport Pro 3D Camera. I understand that there was an earlier version than the one Matterport ships new today. How do the different versions compare?

Thanks very much MUG

I have both and it's fair to say nothing significant...I have been meaning to do a detailed post for a while but have been busy and it's not really significant enough to devote the time.

Thanks Tim,
I have heard that there could be a difference for multifloor options on pre nov 2014 versions.

WeinigerHomes, that has nothing to do with the camera itself. The multifloor feature is an enhancement to all models uploaded since the beginning of November 2014.

@JohnBecker have you done a multi-level home with a 1st gen camera?

I don't think I have a first gen camera. I got mine at the beginning of November, and the serial number begins with "B."

I'm hoping Matterport's announcement of the single-level view didn't go out just to the 2nd gen camera owners. If so, forget I said anything.

@WeinigerHomes

Here are a few differences. The newer camera has:

1. small digital display panel
a. how much camera battery remains
b. how much time for a recharge
c. what action is happening now (scanning, transferring)

2. The Quick Release plate is built-in to the camera

(On my shopping list of Matterport 3D Camera Gear and Accessories, you just need to buy the Sunwayfoto MAC-14 60mm Clamp that goes on your tripod. The newer camera already has the equivalent of the Sunwayfoto 45mm QR plate.

Other differences?

Dan
