"the [Matterport MatterPak] XYZ point cloud format is actually a reduced point cloud to keep the file size manageable. It is decimated, has points removed so that it can be easily viewed and shared. The [Matterport] .E57 point cloud file is the full data set which is often GB in relation to size, but it is a denser more detailed representation of what is captured." The .XYZ and .E57 can be converted to .RCP format easily. If you are an Autodesk Revit user [the Matterport] free Revit plug-in allows you to connect your Matterport account to Revit and via the Recap SDK the conversion occurs automatically on import. The Matterpak contains a number of files including the XYZ hence the naming a ‘pack’ or bundle of usable formats."
