AdviceiGuideiGUIDE PLANIXRicoh Theta Z1

Does anyone use their iGUIDE Planix for Matterport Scans?16856

Just curious if anyone uses the Theta Z from their Planix system to scan Matterports?

I'm just starting up and went with the iGUIDE because personally I like their presentation better and pricing, plus it's a killer package because technically I can pair my tablet with the Theta and use it for Matterport scans too.

Now that I have the system in hand though I quickly found out that the only way the Theta charges off the base is when the base is powered on, and that also results with the Theta being locked into the Planix system.

I can only turn Wi-Fi/Bluetooth on when the base is turned off. That's really unfortunate, because this system would be a no brainer for anyone who wants the best of both worlds.

So I guess I'll have to detach the Theta from the Planix system to use it for Matterport scans.

I guess my question is anyone else doing this on a regular basis? Has anyone come across any problems doing this repeatedly? Any concerns of the cable that attaches to the bottom wearing out or developing connection problems after a while?

Just incase your wondering why disconnect it in the first place....I'm unplugging it so I can plug it into a power bank. The batteries on these things don't last long enough to complete scans.

If only iGUIDE would adjust their software to allow a charge only feature so we could use the Theta separate while still pulling juice from the base.

The Pro2 3D's battery lasts 8 hours and about 700 scans, which is glorious, compared to my Theta Z1 which drops like a lead weight, unfortunately. But the easy fix is to attach a 20,000 mAh battery pack to the monopod you're mounting the Theta on. Pairs well to the Capture app. Quality is lower, however the difference is indiscernible to the general public which still perceives this as new tech.

I just helped sell the highest price home in Niagara county, only because the buyer was in another country and walked through my matterport tour 35 times. $2.3 million.
