Hello Everyone,

I'm a new owner of a Matterport camera which I love and am just in the beginning phase of launching my business. I hope to learn some great tips from everyone in regards to lighting, shadows, mirrors and a few of the other problems I've run across on my test scans. I love the technology and have great expectations for 2015!

Thank you,

Cindie

Cindie, other than turning on lights and/or closing blinds, you're pretty much at the mercy of the ambient light. The system handles it reasonably well, for the most part. As for mirrors, just try to mark them as early as you can. Even if they're not all the way visible in the scan, mark approximately where they are and then touch up the mark as the mirror's position is revealed more accurately in successive scans.

The biggest obstacle I've had to overcome is working in tight spaces. If you're in a tight spot, don't move the camera too far from one sweep to the next. Sometimes you have to move as little as 3 or 4 feet in small spaces.

Whatever you do, make sure you do a complete walk-through of the property before you start. Get everything the way you want it, and get everyone else out if you can. People generally don't understand how serious you are when you tell them nothing can move.
