Iv'e seen this subject spoken about a few times now. but Iv'e not seen a definitive answer. In order to free up space on an iPad to make room for scans the only way to do it as far as Im aware is to delete scans correct? Are the models data only stored within the app? Can I delete them from anywhere else within the iPad? Has anyone found a way of saving the data before deleting so it can be imported back into the Matterport cloud for re-uploading at a later date ?

@jnash70 How to backup your iPad Air 2 before you delete models. Short Answer: Multiple iCloud Accounts A backup-archive request has been on the MUG Forum Members Wish List for a long time. You might ask Matterport Support and see what they say (and share here too please) Dan |

Still kind of curious about this as well. @DanSmigrod - is there a short answer for why you would use several icloud accounts as opposed to using the itunes tethered backup and select the one you would like to restore? Apart from the obvious cloud vs local, tethered vs wifi.. Rob |

@3DscannUK Thank you for asking ... Either iCloud or tethered to iTunes is fine (as long as you create multiple accounts). All, 1. For clarification, you fill you iPad that you have synced to an iCloud or iTunes account. 2. Remove all models 3. Set up a new iCloud or iTunes account 4. Back up with new iCloud account 5. Now that you have two or more iCloud or iTune accounts, you can RESTORE from any back up Admittedly, this is a work-around until if/when Matterport implements a backup/archive strategy. Thanks, Dan |

@3DscannUK P.S. If you plan to collaborate with other Pros in other cities to scan for you, you'll want to get started with iCloud so that you can explain to the Pro that you are engaging how this works (if getting the original data is important to you. Dan |

But, I still don´t get why you need the second icloud if you´re backing up locally with itunes ? Can´t you just select an older backup version in itunes when it prompts which backup to restore from?

@3DscannUK As long as you can keep track of which back up has which models, you will be fine. I would rather have separate iCloud accounts with date range and senate accounts for working with other Pros using their iPad in a different city. Best practice is iCloud as describe above. Dan |
