During Inman Connect Now this morning (Thursday, 17 December 2020), Inman Founder Brad Inman said:

And we now know it is real, as people aspire to find and live in new locations, and now they have the freedom to do so. But home search is changing as a consequence. People aren't just looking at pretty houses, they're looking for new towns, new counties, new regions, new states, and even new countries.

Working from home has changed the landscape. It's given us new freedom to think differently about where we live and why we want to live there. And this is also changing how real estate industry must deliver those services. Many served cities unfortunately short-term are getting the snub until we grapple with the fear of density and their ability to recover economically from the multiple disasters this year that have hit all of us.

So what does this mean for you?

Well, let's start with people are looking for new locations. They are looking for new places to live, and this is where your [real estate agents] value is so, so important. But they're looking for new locations with an emphasis on safety and quality of life. They need new data and new information to understand these new areas. Never have you been more valuable. Your community expertise has never been more important. So flaunt your local experience, work your referral networks, both referring in and out of your community and your town.
