Anybody can help me to explain the answer that Matterport CEO provided in this video when anchor ask him "How do you make money out of this"? I can't understand what he said. Sorry for my bad English. |

Was a fantastic interview. So what he is saying is that Home Owners can capture their properties and then share the tours. So that means there is no need for a MSS program. Because agents can just go in and use their phones now. So if the home owner does not want to pay the agent to scan they can do it for free and own their own content. So how will Matterport make money? I dont know what I have missed in this interview but that is the way they have sold it. So he said you can scan your entire home? Did he mention that Matterport owns that data and that the home owners are aware of that, and that they millions of new users are going to read their fine print. lets be honest here, when you install a new app or online service do you really read the fine print , the answer is no. So like with a lot of products out there we as consumers or prosumers get mislead by the fine print, as you will not think tech companies are there to work you over. If Matterport rather geared the marketing to awareness then trying to kill our business would have been a win win for all parties. But maybe I am not seeing the bigger picture here. Maybe I am too woke to realize what they are doing. They have made our jobs so much easier for us as we can do the work cheaper than what they are charging these "large: real estate companies. Look at doing volume and it will make sense. Just get these companies their own hosting accounts and you dont have to worry about those fees. And this will work until Matterport changes their pricing again that I am seeing will be announced very soon. Hope I am wrong here. |

The objective is to have as many subscriptions as possible, sell the info (of the users) - and make money that way (in this case of home-owner user type). Or - position the company for sale with said 'large' userbase. What do you think would happen is Zillow offered some actual $'s for the company.... Subscriptions certainly will be a multiplier here. Does anyone actually wonder why google is 'free'? If your privacy means anything - it's astronomically expensive. |
