The following is the text of an email (13 January 2016) from the Matterport Team. Do you have comments about this Matterport announcement? Dan --- Processing will now enhance dark scenes and scenes with glare Dear Matterport Customer, This week we released two improvements to our vision processing pipeline that enhance the overall image quality of panoramas in your Matterport Spaces. You may notice the following improvements in all future models: Increased saturation and contrast in dark areas. Vision improvements will result in improved image quality in dark areas of a Space by increasing saturation and contrast. Reduced glare. Glare will be reduced in cases where light shining into the camera causes panoramas to be washed out. We are glad to introduce these improvements to your Matterport Spaces. If you have any questions, please contact support@matterport.com. Thanks, The Matterport Team Copyright © 2015 Matterport Inc. All rights reserved 140 S. I've actually just noticed how much better a dark room looked with a scan from just a week ago. There was a very dark room, a massage room in a spa, that I was worried about because of the lack of light but figured I'd give it a shot, and after processing, you would have no idea that it was almost difficult to see in the room. Next time I am there, I'll take an actual picture with my camera and compare to the snapshot from the Matterport tour. I really was blown away with how good it looks!

The two scans we did this week turned out well and, albeit subtle, the changes are noticeable and appreciated.

Has anyone experienced any problems with models uploaded after this software update? My last model done after the update seems to be choppy. I didn't change my method, spacing etc. from my previous scans. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you, Cindie |

This update came just in time as I scanned a house on a rainy day and I was wondering how much the dark weather conditions would affect the scan. Also in one of the scans, the camera was head to head with a low hanging lamp and i thought it was going to show up awful in the 3D showcase. The lamp showed wonderfully with zero glares, and the windows were brightened as if it was a nice weather outside. Very happy with the result. |
