Hi All,

The WGAN Forum Question of the Day for Thursday, 30 April 2020:

If you have been sheltering in place – and now your state is re-opening – will you re-open for business or wait?

Stay healthy,

Dan

P.S. This topic was inspired by this Inman story (29 April 2020): Open or wait? Inman contributors sound off

Have been doing business as before to complete projects. Wear gloves, booties, and mask. Also wiping down equipment.

As part of the real estate industry, we've been considered essential, all along in my state. My policy, both on the photography, and brokerage side, has been to take fewer clients - to allow for extra time so there is no rushing, no forgetting to sanitize and take proper precautions as I go. My "go kit" includes shoe covers, a sanitizer spray pen that I clip on my shirt for easy access, alcohol wipe packets in my pocket, and a mask. I ask clients to not be present in the home, and let me do my thing first - then we can talk, with social distancing, afterward, in the driveway. Sanitize on the way in - on the way out - wipe down every switch or surface you've had to touch, and take your time - That's my schtick

This needs to end sooner than later. Everyone I know are really getting fed up, but if they want to keep the world shut down, fine by me. I have never been busier creating Matterport tours, and getting around in Chicago traffic is a breeze, I haven't changed anything but wear gloves on a job. Sorry if that's not politically correct.

We are re-starting as of today. The reason for starting today is the Michigan governor is allowing garden centers, motorboating, landscapers, and a few other industries to re-open. Since I never expect her to say "real estate photography can now be done", I have to use my common sense. We don't fall under realtor status. So, again, my common sense tells me if people can go to garden centers than one photographer going into a home is permitted with precautions taken.

We do take this virus very seriously and it's personally not worth it to us to risk our well-being or others when we do this job. If there is an uptick in cases and deaths, we will most likely shut down again and wait.
