Has anyone offered Matterport point cloud files as a service? I learned how to use Matterport while working for a General Contractor. I was tasked with creating As-builts for new projects. We wanted to provide as-builts for the architect. The idea behind this was that we would be a more desireable GC to work with because NO GC's offer as-builts. This meant scanning the property, downloading the point cloud file, and importing the file into a CAD program. I had no experience modeling on CAD. We eventually scrapped the idea because it was too time consuming. Now that I have started my virtual tour business I am wondering if there is a market for offering point cloud files to drafters and/or architects. I have NO interest in working within a CAD program. The data alone must have value to drafters or architects. After all, a good scan takes a few hours. Questions..comments...thoughts..? |
