3D tour

Camera used: Insta 360 One X
Camera settings used: Automatic/Automatic – No custom settings
Camera mount: Helmet
Photo method: Standing still while taking a photo – moving and then taking a new photo.
Photos taken: 599
Time spent: 120 minutes

Post work:
1. Turning the image files from the camera into jpeg files.
2. Compressing the jpeg files

Cupix upload settings:
I uploaded 3 versions of the tour:
1. Uploaded each exhibition Hall as one section. Two big sections and no 3D mapping.
2. Same as 1. But with 3D mapping enabled.
3. Split each exhibition hall into two and then uploaded 4 sections. No 3D mapping

I went with number 1. These settings mapped most of the panos correct.

Helmet ingredient list:

1. Insta 360 One X
2. Koroao 1/4 Expansion Screw Adapter
3. Camera Hot Shoe Mount to 1/4
4. White Hardhat
5. USB charging cable
6. Battery pack to keep in inside jacket pocket

Assembly:
Drill a hole in the top of the hardhat so you can mount the Camera Hot Shoe Mount 1/4. Attach the Koroa 1/4 Expansion Screw Adapter.

The Koroa 1/4 Expansion Screw Adapter is recommend to get more distance between the camera and the hardhat so the hardhat does not take up too much space in the images.

This expansion also allows you to charge your Ricoh Theta V or Ricoh Theta Z1 if you use those.

Much thanks to @Joakim360 for this how to ...

Best,

Dan

I used this one https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32802463423.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.3f214c4dDFHAL2 to save my helmet from drilling.

The tape it has come with is a 3M double sided tape and it is so strong that I am not even sure I can remove it now.

I have also found a cheap backpack that can be easily converted with a bit of DIY to make a camera mount on a pole coming from a backpack exactly behind your head.

I am waiting for it to be delivered from UK. If somebody's interested I will show it here when it is ready. The cost of the backpack is only $54 AUD and I don't believe I will need to buy anything more than $10 to make a camera backpack from it.

No worries, I will show it when it is ready. However just to speed it up for others I will post some extra details here.

[eBay link removed: see later post by @wingman for backstory why]

You will be surprised when you see a picture below that there are already 100s of different backpacks that are almost ready for it. Here is the one I have purchased.

[eBay link removed: see later post by @wingman for backstory why]

Just make sure you select a Wheely version under Main colour dropdown list at

Not sure if I can detach wheels and stands from its bottom but if I cannot it does not really matter. What matters if that it is already coming with a pole(telescopic handle) and all structure inside the backpack to support it.

It does not have to be the same one. There may be even cheaper versions of a similar product available. I believe I have seen $28 one on Amazon that has a decent design & look. I did not buy from Amazon because shipping to Au from USA added extra $45 making it more expensive than the one on ebay.

Are you using a 55mm tall rod Dan? Have you tried to take a picture to see how much of a helmet you can see at nadir?

I always thought that you would need a 10-15cm tall rod to get as less of a helmet at nadir as possible but may be I am wrong. I could not find any rod that tall but there is a 7.5cm tall one listed on ebay for less than $5 AUD with shipping included.

@Wingman

Thanks for asking. Here are:

✓ screen grab from video show nadir (helmet)
✓ what I purchased that connects to the camera

I was pleasantly surprised how small the helmet is in the nadir. Do you think I need more elevation? (I have a second expansion screw adapter that I could try.)

I can only tell you that it is a way better than without any rod used and a camera placed directly on a helmet. But I think it can be better and it can make the helmet footprint much smaller if it is raised anywhere from 7.5cm to 15cm/ I am going to buy two 7.5cm tall ones to test it. I will report it here.

My backpack btw still has not been delivered.

Hi All,

Here's a short 360º video (above) of today's Halloween themed Chowdown.

(I used an Insta360 One X camera mounted on a helmet: Helmet Cam...

I wonder if the in-and-out-of-focus is caused by moving from one bright light to the next bright light. Your thoughts?

Plus, this 360º photo (hosted on ThreeSixty.Tours platform) ...

Trick or Treat

Enjoy your weekend,

Dan, can you please remove the link to the ebay item with the backpack but leave the picture?

The ebay seller seems to be dodgy, two weeks past deadline in delivery and I have no backpack and they do not even care to explain where it is.

I do not want other members to lose their money on my recommendation to buy this exact bag from this seller. If members can see the picture of the backpack left only at least they will get an idea of what type of a backpack to use. I am sure they will find a reliable seller to find something similar.
