Aurora HDR 201910041

leeverdon private msg quote post Address this user
Good day all,

Just wondering if anyone out there has been using Aurora HDR 2019?

I have been testing it with three bracketed images, one would have normal exposure while the other two would be overexposed +2EV and underexposed -2EV respectively.

The results have been awful especially with a basic bedroom and window shot. As you will see, a really dark final image. I made the image lighter using LR or PS but it comes out well below acceptable.

I would be interested to find what process you all use to create great looking HDR images?

Thanks.
Lee

Photomatix. 5 exp @ 2 stops.

I use this software with 5 brackets at 2 stops. Works great for me. The standard HDR templates are a little too overprocessed for me and I usually back off from some of their settings.

@homefrontphoto

Are you using Aurora or Photomatix?

I've never been impressed with Photomatix to be honest. For Aurora does a pretty good job right out of the box. The pictures you see for 392 caffe in downtown Davenport from Homefront Photography were all mostly standard processing jobs from Aurora HDR 2019. You'll notice that some are over done but the owner liked them that way.

We are using Aurora and Luminar and sometimes the Topazlabs suite (adjust ai, gigapixel ai, etc.). Also for all Matterport snapshots.

We are getting great results with the Matterport Pro2 + Software combination.

Well, I used one of those service providers as a test who do the HDR images for you. I sent them 3 RAW bracketed images -2, 0, +2 EV. The results were fantastic.

@leeverdon

For clarification, was your test done with Aurora or Photomatix?

Thanks,

Dan

I use Aurora HDR exclusively on every image I shoot. Always great results unless I give 5 bad images to begin with. Making sure you're getting the main exposure spot on is important for quality results. If you can do that, Aurora HDR is great. I mostly do 5 brackets...normal +2, +4, -2, -4.

Maybe off subject or a tangent, but I'm sold on Colin Forte's PhotoAndVideoEdits.com service. They've helped with thousands of photos for me and the results have been spectacular. Colin has many artists on his staff and he's even incorporated a system so that you can choose the particular artist who works on your images. Colin is a gem. If you haven't tried his service, you're missing out.

If anyone wants particulars on how I shoot for his service, or other questions, I'm happy to provide details.

@DanSmigrod

Hi Dan,

Just to clarify. The first image I sent on this thread was an unedited image straight out of Aurora using the 3 bracketed exposure images.

I then tried the best I could to edit this image using Photoshop but the results were somewhat satisfactory but not good enough.

I wanted to see if a service provider could do a better job. I sent them 3 random bracketed exposure images, the end result as shown in the last image I posted.

If anyone knows how to reproduce this quality HDR image then please share your method/process.
