Hi All,

In the last 15 years, home ownership in the USA has declined to 64 percent from 70 percent, according to this slide (above) from Sapphire Ventures Managing Director Paul Levine at Inman Las Vegas (ICLV19) today (Friday, 26 July 2019).

Paul says it looks like the trend has now flatlined at 64 percent.

How might this trend affect you?

Best,

Dan

Falling rates of home ownership? Is this really surprising when the US now leads the world, except for Mexico and Chile, with the highest rate of income/wealth inequality? The American middle class was strongest in the 1950’s under former army general President Eisenhower, a Republican, when progressive taxation topped out at 91%. Don’t believe it? Check Politifact website. The world has changed.

In case you’ve missed this, the percentage of U.S. housing stock owned by investors instead of individual families continues to grow. I did 3D at another one of them yesterday. You know what renting a 2000 sq ft home costs in a middle-class L.A. neighborhood now? Around $5000 / mo. To buy, over $1M.
