Commentary --- Hi All, To help scale the Matterport business exponentially, I could imagine that Matterport is posed to go on a buying spree of companies. As previously reported six weeks ago by TechCrunch - and noted here in the WGAN Forum – Matterport raised $48 million (total raised: $114 million, according to CrunchBase. In re-reading that TechCrunch article, I failed to note that the TechCrunch writer said, "From what we understand, the funding is coming ahead of a larger growth round from existing and new investors, to tap into what they see as a big opportunity for building and providing (as a service) highly accurate 3D images of enclosed spaces." When you piece together various puzzle pieces – the above – plus: ✓ PlaceTech: "Matterport’s bold plan to scan 100 million buildings" ✓ 10 Reasons Matterport will acquire GeoCV ✓ Lawsuit: Matterport, Inc. versus GeoCV, Inc. - All Legal Documents ✓ Pleadings [by Matterport and GeoCV] due by 5/20/2019 (from these court filings) {Private Message me for the Password) It's obvious to me that: ✓ Matterport placed this TechCrunch story – a strategic move to signal to the investment community, 'if you want in on the next funding round, you better act quickly.' ✓ Matterport will be on a buying spree to help achieve exponential growth ✓ GeoCV is likely on Matterport's short list of target companies to scale the business If I am right that GeoCV is likely on Matterport's short list of target companies to help secure exponential growth – a perfect fit for Matterport Service Providers for countless reasons – it would not surprise if someone else makes an offer to buy GeoCV before Matterport finishes raising its next round. Large companies can be slow to siege opportunities. With a white-hot private and public equity market for tech companies, this may be Matterport's moment. For Matterport Service Providers, anything that dramatically increases demand for Matterport 3D Tours, is great news. (This may be our moment too.) What do you think? What will Matterport do with a pile of new money and a mandate for exponential growth? Best, Dan |

@rzphotoman Ha! How long does it take to get an answer from WGAN Members? Hi All, It's been four months since Matterport announced that it raised an additional $48 million in venture funding (bringing the total to $114 million). I'm surprised that an acquisition has not yet been announced. Best, Dan |
