| Does anyone have any experience with the drone mappings applications such as DroneDeploy or Pix4d? Their software flies your drone for you in a pattern taking pictures, with an overlap, to provide a realistic navigable 3D model of a structure or really anything else on the ground. A shoot might involve hundreds of pictures which are then uploaded to their servers to be stitched like Matterport does. | ||

As for flying in patterns it is just an additional service from DroneDeploy and Pix4D to build a drone survey path. You do not have to use this service if you have a commercial drone. Drone manufacturers usually supply a feature in their software for commercial drones that allows a pilot to build a path for survey and fly it taking pictures automatically. Then you can load these picture into your DroneDeploy or Pix4D account and they will build a 3D model from these pictures. |
