Hi All, I included the following static - Matterport in 7 Percent of USA MLS Listings - in this WGAN Forum discussion, but I did not link to the source of that info. (I recall seeing/hearing it from Matterport, but do not recall the source. Do you know the source of this statistic? "While it’s great that Matterport 3D Tours are in seven percent of all residential real estate listings, unfortunately, it’s still missing the other 93 percent." Happy holidays, Dan |

Not sure of where that quote is from, but 7% seems really high. Here in Palm Beach County, that number this month is just 0.3%. Down from a high of 0.57% which was the peak this year. Those numbers are slightly higher if you look at all of South Florida, but still, nowhere near 7%. Numbers were actually higher at one point last year (0.75%) and nosedived after the TOS snafu and have not recovered to that point since.

In germany I can state virtual 360 tours are below 1% and MP is much below 0.5%.

Hi All, From Inman 12 December 2018: "[Matterport VP of Sales and Business Development Mark] Tepper said that in 2017 his company’s models “were connected to roughly 4 percent of all homes for sale.” Matterport expects to finish 2018 about 2 percentage points higher, Tepper also said, with more growth expected in 2019.} Source: Inman I apologize for overstating the number. Happy holidays, Dan |

Hi All, Now I am totally confused. At Inman Connect NY 2019, a rep of Matterport told me that last year (2018), Matterport 3D Tours were in 7 percent of all MLS listings in the United States. When I look at this Matterport job posting today (15 February 2019), it says "4.5% of all homes sold in the US last year [2018] had a Matterport 3D tour." Which number is correct? Best, Dan |

I can tell you that those numbers are nowhere near factual here in South Florida. Our parent company does MLS data management and development, so we work with that data all the time. I just ran a report for the past 12 months from today and the actual number here is 0.0073% or roughly 7 Matterport tours for every 1000 active listings. In fact, the number of listings that have "other" virtual tours (including slideshow videos) is significantly higher at 0.066%... nearly 10x the Matterport number. To be fair, Matterport had a rough year in our market over the TOS snafu which caused a lot of larger brokerages to discontinue use of the platform before it was even widely adopted... even with that, 2017 was only slightly better at 0.0096%. If someone came in with a marginally superior product at an aggressive price point that ensured a good ROI for service providers, they could easily overtake Matterport in our area.
