WGAN-TV PhotoAndVideoEdits.com Short Story #139-Package Add Ons - Note Cancelation Insurance

Hi All,

The WGAN Forum Question of the Day for Thursday, 20 September 2018) is:

Do you - will you - offer photo shoot cancelation insurance* Add On?

In this WGAN-TV Short Story #139 (above), Colin Forte - founder of PhotoAndVideoEdits.com and West Palm Beach, FL based MSP @Hometakes - told me how he charges $5 extra for photo shoot cancelation insurance as an Add On. He says offering a job at the least possible cost and then adding optional extras - Add Ons - helps him get the gig and then get (much) more money for the gig.

Lots of GEMS in this 4 minute video clip.

Best,

Dan

*Cancelation Insurance $5 - Reschedule your appointment with just 1 hour notice instead of the standard 18 hours.

Not yet, but it's a great idea. Merely having it suggests to the agent that she/he is responsible for timely cancellation and that transitional weather is not a reason to cancel a shoot.

Weather, ah yes. A good reason, though it’s also likely the reason I’ve never yet considered this. But that’s Los Angeles, where we see a full day of rain maybe 5-6 days a year. (We’d like more rain here!). I’ve had jobs pushed for overcast clouds, which is itself a rarity here. So no, I’ve not considered this though I certainly understand the issue, weather-wise, having grown up in Chicago. About 25% of my jobs shift dates from the initial call to the actual shoot, but most clients are quite considerate about staying in touch when this is needed. Most common reasons are delayed staging, landscaping, etc.

We usually make a courtesy call if we anticipate that it's going to be rained out and let them decide. If they decided to reschedule, we don't charge them for this because we've reached out to them.
