360CUPIXRicoh Theta VVersus

Ricoh Theta V Versus Ricoh Theta SC for CUPIX7514

WalterE private msg quote post Address this user
Aside from the storage space, video capture time, and streaming ability, has anyone noticed a difference in the images when uploading panos to Cupix?

The camera specs are IDENTICAL so I wouldn't think there would be any difference in the image.

I am currently an MSP that has fallen in love with the 360° tour world after 20 years of graphic design and I am interested in getting started with other cameras and formats and am trying to keep my R&D costs down.

Thank you!

I second your question! I have a Ricoh Theta S that I've had for about 2 years, and I don't see the differences in the specs with the Theta V. Can anyone enlighten me/us?

Hiya,

This may help - we did a comparison last year.

Thank you @LeeCollins...funny, I actually came across your website and that very article last night. It is very much a matter of taste as you said, and I actually prefer the SC in those instances. Thanks for sharing. Today is my first day on the forum anbd it is good to have good, professional responses.

Cheers!

@WalterE one other thing to note when it comes to Cupix - the SC produce a .jpg file of around 4mb while the Theta V produces a compressed file no loss of quality at just over 2mb

UPDATE: I got the SC yesterday and shipped it back today!! I had a VERY hard time syncing the camera to the app. It was REALLY buggy. I have read reports of the app being really buggy to the SC since the updates came in for the V. I was also not that impressed with the image quality. I won't be using this on professional shoots, It is just a tester before I drop $2000 on a Nikon D610 & Sigma 8mm. As a new startup I really need to keep costs down and I want to field test everything!! So the Theta V it is...You were right again @dansmigrod !
