Manfrotto 3 Way Tilt Head In Tour7433

MarkCantu private msg quote post Address this user
Good Day! I have an issue with my Manfrotto 3 Way Tilt Head showing up in Matterport Tour. I am curious if any one has had the same problem, and what type of correcting procedure can be done to eliminate the camera from getting glimpse of the head? Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

Get a ball head.

What tripod/head combo are you using? Is it a fluid/video head? Would it help to raise the "neck" of the head so the handles would be minimized in perspective?

@MarkCantu

Please see my Matterport Gear page for my recommendations.

Respectively, I strongly disagree with @HarlanHambright EXCEPT for the most seasoned, experience photographer. Anyone else is likely to damage their Matterport Camera.

Dan

P.S. My very first Matterport shoot - July 2014 - I used a Manfrotto 3-way tilt head - while I was waiting for a quick release clamp to arrive. I had the same problem. You only make this mistake once.

Hi All,

For anyone thinking about a ball head - and that should ONLY be experienced DSLR Pros - I recommend the Gemtune DY-60N Leveling Base. It feels like a ball head with limited rotation (that's very, very good) mashed up with a quick release plate.

Here are some photos from Amazon of the Gemtune DY-60N Leveling Base.

For newbie Matterport Service Providers, I recommend the Desmond DLEV-1 Leveler with Discal Quick Release Clamp. If you are not a DSLR Pro, this choice will saving you from damaging your Matterport Camera. You can also get it without the quick release clamp. (I find it easier to attached the camera with the quick release clamp that to spin it on to the tripod). Here are some screen grabs of the Desmond DLEV-1 Leveler with Discal Quick Release Clamp

Which tripod head do you use and why?

Best,

Dan

I Agree with Dan and also recommend the Gemtune DY-60N Leveling Base. Once you've used it, you'll never put you Matterport on anything else.

Thank you every one for your advice and suggestions. I bought an additional tripod, Pro Master Professional Tripod Series with a Ball Head. Luckily, I have an independent Camera Shop right by my house. The associate took the time to explain how to use it with my Matterport Camera. My Manfrotto Tripod is heavy weight, which is a good thing and a bad thing. I am taking both tripods to my next project, and will look into the Gemtune DY-60N.
