Today, @Isabel Wang and I visited The Museum of Flight in Seattle to do a new field experiment with the BLK360. Our goal was to scan an old B-52 airplane still under restoration, and better understand the workflow for such a big structure.
We did 15 scans over 1.5h before it started raining. No MP camera was used.

The restoration team told us that if we had brought donuts, we could have used their lifts to scan up high. We didn't have any, so the wings and the fuselage don't show up in the doll house. That's the key takeaway from today's experiment. :-)

@Isabel and @Paolo FANTASTIC! Did the BLK disconnect from the Ipad at all? I've had it disconnect about every 3-4 scans while on the latest cap app version. Looks like you had a great time too!

Yes. Please bring donuts next time! Great takeaway.

Way cool. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice. 2 quick questionsz How does the BLK perform in sunlight?

If the fuselage had been open would you be able to go inside the aircraft all in one model?

@lisahinson I don't recall disconnection issues, I guess we were lucky.

@angusnorriss your question about sunlight is probably better answered by @isabel who has more experience with the device. If the airplane would have been open, we could have combined Pro2 and exterior scans into one virtual tour. We have worked with the museum in the past and we got the interiors scanned. The issue has always been how to give a sense of the entire plane in 3D. You could use 360 snapshots and connect them with the tour, but if you want a full 3D model, then the BLK will be the answer.
