Mattertags Image Quality7219

Faga private msg quote post Address this user
I use Mattertags a lot.
Most of the time I upload the image to my website and paste the url link to the media section and didn't have any problems so far.

Lately I scanned an art gallery and customer wants the artwork details added as pop-up mattertags but the image becomes so blurry that the text is not readable.

MP support says that it's because of the compression done by embed.ly and they can't do anything about it.

Did any of you faced the same problem? Any idea to overcome the blurriness?

Thanks,

Where is the image file being hosted? Is it your own website or an online picture hosting site? Perhaps try switching to another image hosting site and see if that makes a difference?

@Queen_City_3D
Normally I upload the image to my own website.
When I noticed the blurriness, I tried google photos and flickr and nothing changed.
This is what MP support says: "Not sure if another web service that would convert pdf to url would make a different like flickr or twitter because we still use Embedly."

I also wait for a response from Embedly support but believe it or not they're slower than MP's..

Just received the response from Embedly support and here's the case:

"We allow our clients to specify a "compression level" for images, we don't control this for individual types of images, it's what the client (in this case Matterport) has asked us to do in their API request. "

Interesting.

Sounds like you need to go back to Matterport Support and ask if they could adjust the level.

I wonder though if that would affect how quickly the photos would load and/or if larger image sizes would cause the Showcase to freeze/crash on older or slower devices.

Possible...

I'd like to hear what Chris @Metroplex360 thinks about this

@Faga I'm happy to take a look, although I don't use Mattertags as much as many others do.

Send me the space and I'll take a look at what's happening and give you an opinion.

Here's the update from MP support:

"Talked to Engineering and they opened a bug fix - Mattertags billboard image that might look blurry if the corresponding file is large and has many tiny details. Thanks for reporting this issue. I don't have an ETA on a fix yet. "

Hope to be fixed soon...
