The following is the text of an email (1 September 2015) from the Matterport Team. Feedback or comments? -- Google Chrome has discontinued support for plug-ins, temporarily affecting Matterport Workshop* Dear Matterport Customer, Today, Google released a new version of Chrome - Chrome 45 - which no longer supports plug-ins. This affects many programs, including the Unity plug-in on which Matterport Workshop is based. We will be releasing an updated version of Workshop as soon as possible to address this Chrome compatibility issue. In the meantime, you can continue using Workshop in the latest versions of Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer. For more details about the Chrome changes, please see the Chromium developer site. We apologize for any inconvenience. For questions, you can reach us at support@matterport.com. Thanks, - The Matterport Team *This update only applies to those customers who use the Google Chrome browser to access Workshop. Functionality in all other browsers will remain unaffected. |

They obviously dropped the ball on this one. They should have had a work around by the cut off date, not find one when it does shut down. Another example of how they believe that the clients exist for them, and not that they exist because of the clients. The deal was they would be available on all the major browsers, or maybe Chrome is no longer a major player? Maybe matterport determines who our client should view the model with....not happy. | ||

This isn't the end of the world; most Matterport service providers will do any workshop features themselves. Most realtors don't have time or patience to use the workshop. It is fairly easy to swtich browsers, even if that means using Windows Evil Explorer. To be honest, I haven't found anything worthwhile to sell the workshop on. It would be much better if you could take measurements from the photo showcase, then users that were really interested in finding out dimensions could do so if they desired. The quality of a 3D model can vary greatly, and unless you are looking at the dollshouse view, the quality isn't yet up to scratch on most scans to want to use the Unity/Workshop free roam. |
