So, Matterport just admitted: Floor Plan Navigation offers greater ease of use. And followed iGuide® use of floor plan for navigation in VR: Source: https://matterport.com/blog/2017/12/28/introducing-floor-plan-navigation-matterport-vr-spaces We are flattered. Let's see how long it will take to start using floor plans for navigation on desktop. We might even consider licensing iGuide® trademark (https://www.wegetaroundnetwork.com/topic/4885/page/1/matterport-bought-iguide-google-ad). |

Hey Alex. IGuide dodn’t exactly invent the floor plan, nor is it all that unique in general. Maybe you should be using the Ipix logo. And we were making cubical pans even way before Ipix! When iGuide came out I thought, hmmm this is a lot like Matterport, except without the 3D navigation component. Just saying.... |

@HarlanHambright Can't blame @Alex_iGuide for taking a dig at Matterport It feels good to be first -- and even better to get some comradery for it! I'd say that Alex has a good sense of humor about Matterport paying for ads against them too! Kudos to the iGuide team. They launched their GSV Publishing platform and VR map navigation first! |

I’m not aware of anti-iGuide ads, so would understand the post better in that case. I guess my view on the whole thing is there ain’t nothin new under the sun - all technology builds on previous developments, and nobody can truly claim underived authorship of anything. We owe our current digital 3D technology to the work of Helmut Dersch (and others?) who pioneered this stuff 30 years ago (an eternity in the digital world). And this was but a digital reincarnation of perspective theory developed centuries ago. So get off your high horses, all of you, 3D technology companies. Only the first service that offers smell as an added feature will be able to claim truly new ground. (That would be great for a restaurant tour.) | ||
