Awesome Vimeo/Youtube Alternative5021

I recently found this thanks to another video production product I use and I think it is really cool! Lots of functionality that is not included in even the highest priced membership of Vimeo. There is a discount available until Sunday so look at it as soon as you can to see if you like it so you can save some money.

Here is a video about the product and there is a link at 18 minutes with pricing. I do not make any money off of this, just thought it would be perfect for the WGA Crew!

Let me know what you think.

I'm so new to video but this product looks very promising (and easy). I have a very primary question. When you upload the Matterport video, do you upload it from your computer after you've downloaded it from Matterport with the file extension it has?

So, I messed around with it a bit and found it super easy to use,
and super cool! I am a newbie though, so I may just be inexperienced LOL.

I took an old version of a video I did for a friend's AirBnB and uploaded it, added a thumbnail at the start, a text bubble, and an e-commerce/call to action at the end with a link to his AirBnB page and it all took me about 20 minutes including figuring it out, uploading my logo which links to my website in the bottom right, selecting the colors for everything, easily matching my company colors, selecting the drop shadow skin, and putting an example page on my website.

They have skins that look like iPhones and iPads, etc. as well!

I think it really looks unique compared to the standard Vimeo/Youtube embed.

Let me know what you think.

@ajabba Do you mean the Matterport teaser videos? If so, yes, you would have to download it and then upload it to Vidello. Then you can add all the functionality on the Vidello site.

Hah, just added the iPad version to the sample page. Super easy! One tip, you do have to grab a new embed code for every change you make to any of the customizations.

@richiericks - Thanks for sharing! Looks really useful. I went to your site via the link above...which video are you hosting with Vidello?

@Richierichks Thanks for the share. Vidello looks super slick, I like those apps, make it soooo easy. I would use it's domain and password protection within a membership training, product or affiliate site or landing page.

My all time fav though is Wistia, those guys are pretty awesome and were careful to build in sophisticated SEO functionality to keep their customers in Google's favour.

For public vids to use in website content and blogs and when trying to get a client onto page 1 Google SERPS and YouTube, I stay with YouTube embeds - just can't beat that for SEO

Don“t forget the main reasons for vimeo or youtube: they have much much much much more users already which is the main reason to use these platforms. Not the tech.

@Richierichks Thanks for sharing. Vidello looks really nice but @mori is right and the issue is Vidello sustainability.

Those are all valid points, however the thing I liked about this is having all of that functionality for around $20/month. Wistia is $99 and Vimeo is $50/month and I really can't justify that right now.

I currently have stuff hosted on Vimeo and some Copyright Enforcement company out of Germany claimed one of my videos was copyright infringement and Vimeo took it down. Funny thing is, all of the photos the video was based on were taken by me! I got it put back up, but Vimeo noticed I was using it for business and are now requiring me to get the $50/month plan.

I don't have $50/month worth of videos at this point so I'm going to try this out for a while!

@VR360Pop Both of those are hosted on Vidello. I just put both on there to see how the different "frames" look on the video.

Love it or hate it, but YouTube is better for SEO as it adds a more visable search engine result page (SERP). Google gives YouTube preference.

I think that YouTube is overrun with garbage and wish that other premium services (like Vimeo - which I adore) offered the same value for time invested, but as it is - Vimeo excels for artists who aren't trying to use videos for marketing -- there are times when companies upload their videos to Vimeo (like Matterport) and I'm not really sure why. I know that Vimeo has private videos that require a password, and that's a cool advantage...
