Does anyone carry a special insurance rider for their camera, and if so, what is covered (theft? damage? accidental drop, etc.)? A couple days ago my wife finished up a scan and was rear-ended by another vehicle on her way home. The force of the hit pushed her into the car ahead of her which was then pushed into the car in front of him. Besides her dealing with a whiplash injury we want to make sure there's no damage to the camera, but how would one even tell? She's sore from the accident but is doing another capture today so hopefully all goes well. We'd definitely go after the cost of the camera with the other driver's insurance if there was a problem. I'm thinking it should be okay though... it was packed up tightly and was on the floor at the time the vehicle was hit. It got me thinking though that we should probably invest in some sort of insurance for the future. Anyone got coverage of one kind or another? |

Sorry to hear about that mate. Glad she's ok. I carry insurance with TD, it's attached to my home insurance. I cover breakage and theft. I had a few close calls where the camera was almost knocked over. A good thing to remember, if you are scanning near a door that will open and hit the camera, always lock it for the shot. I had someone walk in an open the door. I caught the camera on the way down. Had it of happened 1 or 2 seconds later I would have been out of range. I'll find out how much the policy was, but I'm sure it will be different in each area. I also carry E&O insurance for measurements as well. That's around $700 per year for $500,000 worth of insurance cover |

My camera operator wasnt spreading the tripod legs out when he was on the stairs...it fell and gashed the drywall then proceeded to fall down a flight of stairs!! I was pretty nervous about the camera but it seems to be working fine. | ||
