Hi All, If I was planning to buy a Matterport Pro Camera ($3,600) today (18 May 2017), I would ask the Matterport Sales Rep for the following in writing: "If Matterport lowers the price of the Matterport Pro 3D Camera between today and 31 December 2017, Matterport will automatically credit your Matterport Cloud account by the amount of the discount. This offer has been approved by the General Manager of Matterport." Given that Matterport has been decreasing the price of the Matterport Pro 3D Camera for almost a year via various "sale" prices (and documented in the We Get Around Network Forum), I could imagine that Matterport will discount the Camera again - "Matterport Camera Sale" - when the NCTech iris360 Pro camera begins shipping "coming soon" @ $2,899. While Matterport has other competitors – there are more than 50 3D/VR/360º Cameras and/or platforms – the NCTech iris360 Pro and its platform are likely to be studied closely by people in the market for a 3D/VR/360º Camera solution for residential real estate (and multiple other use cases). I wouldn't be surprised if Matterport went lower than the $2,899 price of the NCTech iris360 Pro because Matterport is VC funded (cares about market share more than profit in the early years; plus, the company needs to stay focused on recurring revenue: razor blades versus selling razors). Buying a Matterport Pro 3D Camera is a great decision for an every increasing list of reasons. And, I will write a separate Forum post about that - and at length - particularly as a result of the Matterport presentation - and my follow-up Matterport interview - at the 2017 Google Street View Summit in Tokyo and the Matterport presentation at SPAR3D in Houston and my follow-up interview with Matterport at SPAR3D. That said, no one wants to over-pay. Like used car dealers and gym/health clubs, Matterport has trained us to wait for their next sale. (Raise the Price of the Camera to Sell More?) If the Matterport sales rep says, "no" ... I would say, "Okay. I will wait until the NCTech iris360 Pro Camera is released to evaluate both Cameras/Platforms." I have no idea how Matterport will respond to this buying strategy. Please do report results of your buying discussions below. Also, reminder that Matterport does offer a 30 day money back guarantee [See Matterport Terms of Sale #4(a).] That may be sufficient for you. If you can make money today, I could imagine that you do not wan to hold off your purchase. Why do you think? Buy now or wait? (Or, see if you can get "Dan's Deal" ...? Still I'll pass. I won't mind paying whatever when their new camera comes out and/or I have a bigger need. I still love it but nobody is taking me up on it, they all think its cool too. | ||
