I am onsite and my capture app is crashing while aligning I have rebooted both devices several times and tried scanning in a different area Same problem I am thinking of reinstalling the capture app, am I correct in thinking that all my previous scans will remain on the iPad if I delete the capture app and then re download and re install Thanks |

@3dshowcaseuk I believe the answer is yes. If you delete the app, your data goes poof. Is it possible that the camera "sees" sunlight? If you are outdoors on a cloudy day, clouds do not block the sun. Can you try scanning closer to the previous scan? Can you post a few pictures of your the space you are trying to scan in? Dan |

Ok so I just created a new model left the camera exactly where it was and scanned as if it was the first scan of the day and voila it didn't crash I have tried duplicating the model and it still crashes, I have deleted 8 scans back and tried and still crashes It's as if the model is corrupt Any iddas |

@3dshowcaseuk I had the same problem. Try taking a 360 view and then scan again and see what happens.

Can you start over? | ||

Try opening a new model and start scanning again, in an area where you were able to successfully scan previously, to see if you have the same issues during alignment. This will help you determine it is the app or if it is the particular area you are scanning that is the problem.

Are you using a level on every scan? I wonder if your first scan was not level. For example, one of the tripod legs was not fully extended and you did not use a level and did not catch that.

Try using the preview scan feature and see if you can spot any obvious issues, not sure if you´d see if the camera is level or not. If you see any strange issues, delete the scan. Also, might sound silly, but maybe check the storage. It seems that technical issues are more prone to happen as the ipad starts filling up (knowing that you´ve done some pretty large scans). |

Robin is right on some older iPads when you reach the 175 mark you start getting crashes. Were you shooting near a window or mirror that could see sunlight the camera will sometimes keep shooting then just fail to align any more. I've even had it keep chugging along only to find that the scans are all over the place due to unforeseen sunlight bouncing off the floor or other surface like a wall. You should not have to start completely all over you just need to find the offending scans. One other issue that has bit me in the tush some time is the wondering scan. Check your mini map to make sure that your last scan is where it's suppose to be as you may find it has a mind of it's own and located it self some where entirely different. if that was the case you will get continues alignment errors till you remove the scan and shoot the shot over. Please let us know how you made out and good luck. |
