Trimming Experiment Leads to Tip4323

| TEST 1 (March 2016): When I first got the Matterport I did an experiment with trimming and trimmed every inch of the exterior on one upload and the second I just used windows and mirrors. Needless to say the second one had tons of artifacts hanging around. TEST 2 (April 2017): I redid that same test knowing that Matterport has been doing some huge improvements on the software end of things. I am very excited to say that in a 5,000SF house with no trim marks except for marking windows and mirrors, I only have 1 sliver of a artifact. I would suggest to trim off areas that look like they will be a problem, such as outside bay windows and sun-rooms, but you can stop trimming every wall as I was doing. Hope this is a huge time saver for everyone else as it will be for me. |

| Did your try this on a multi floor unit, I was told by Matterport the trim helped thier software to process it and keep the floors seperated. Ron |

| Sorry I forgot to mention it is a 4 floor unit. Here is the link to the model. I have not done anything in post yet other than marking windows and mirrors. I haven't even entered the workshop yet to edit scans. As always with all my models when looking through walls in dollhouse you get some questionable edges, but there is only one artifact I found hanging in space. | @htimsabbub23 One thing I try to do is start the camera away from me when the scan starts, that way when walking back to move it you don't get caught. | ||

| Good advice. We've been at this a year and our biggest frustration is getting caught in a mirror of a mirror. But this one is definitely avoidable. I'll take that advice to heart. | ||
