it seems all the threads about this has been archived...can anyone point me in a direction where someone can create a 3D printing of one of our Matterport scans? I heard of Shapeways - does anyone know if we can just send them the link to the model and the obj files and then they simply create a 3D printing? Also, if so, any examples? | ||

I attempted to use Shapeways, but the scans are too detailed. There was a way to fix it, but the software took too much time to learn so I dropped it. I also tried to use a local guy but his scans were too small, and wanted to charge me a crazy price. |

@pixelray We have some experience on 3D print, our printer is full color 3D printer ProJet660Pro from 3D system. The task to 3D print OBJ file of Matterport is very difficult. 1. Because unlike Google street view is the outside of a building, Matterport's OBJ file is the inside face of the building. All texture is looking from inside. 2. The Matterport OBJ file is only the face for computer show it doesn't have volume. Mesh without volume can't be 3D printed. You must spend lots of time to build volume from faces. 3. The OBJ file from Matterport is low detail and lots of holes, you must repair them before print. It may longer than you build a new model from zero. Maybe you can send me the link of your model, let's see is it possible. |
